100 Water Houses Story

This series was initiated by the Threads of Change recycled textiles exhibition at Reverse Garbage.

100 Water Houses was inspired by the Hunderwasser painting "Yellow Ships - Sea of Tunis and Taormina" (1951), whose elongated houses seem to merge into the bay and dwell in the land as water courses.  Their healthy colouring and bright red roof tops convey a feeling of harmony in both the world of man and nature.

Hundertwasser was an artist well known for his sensitivity and commitment to the environment and human wellbeing.  His dedication lead him to take the name Hunderwasser which means one hundred waters.

Standing approximately 55cm tall, made of unused vintage fabrics and weighted to stand independently.
